Hotspot Feature: Chico Hot Springs

It’s been quite the year so far and it’s almost to an end. With many wanting to find an escape, the search for wintertime destinations can be difficult. Today, we want to help you with this by featuring a beautiful, historic, year-round resort. This gem is located only 22 miles from Livingston, MT and features a perfect setting for any group to get away and relax.

What is more relaxing than a soak in natural hot springs and a fine meal? This has been the philosophy since the founding of the Chico Hot Springs Resort and Day Spa. Founded in 1900 as a modest boarding house mostly frequented by gold hunters, it quickly grew to a destination location and eventually even a hospital where the first Montana brain surgery was performed. Over the years, and changed ownership, it has played many different roles, finally transitioning back to its original purpose, a resort.

The lodge hosts a plethora of options for all size groups from rooms at the lodge, to cabins and even houses. Whether you’re doing a couple’s getaway, a family vacation or a weekend with friends, there is a perfect space to say. While there are no televisions or phones in the guest rooms, don’t let that deter you. Instead allow it to finally give you the perfect excuse to truly unplug and relax. They do offer free WiFi should you need it at the Main Lodge and other locations on the property. There is also a library for reading, games, and more relaxation. You can even bring your furry friends as this is a pet friendly destination.

Looking for some delicious food while on your trip? The Historic Dining Room is said to offer the best fine dining meal in Montana. If you’re looking for a more casual setting, the Poolside Grill and Saloon are available to pop into and grab a bite or even catch the game. There’s even a Tasting Room and Wine Cellar for those private dinners for the large groups that want to meet up and celebrate! Truly an option for everyone.

All guests have access to the two open-air natural hot spring pools and the chemical free, geothermally heated pools that are open year-round. What a better way to relax than to watch the sun rise over the mountains or star gaze while soaking in the healing waters of the hot springs? And it won’t even matter that it’s winter because all of the pools are set to keep you nice and cozy! You may never want to leave.

Fun winter activities include cross country skiing and snow shoeing. What a great way to get out in nature with friends and family and explore in the snow. Don’t have your own skis or snowshoes? No problem, the resort has plenty for you to rent for your outing. For our novice skiers and snow shoers there are horse guided tours.

Not one for those kinds of activities? No problem! There are horse drawn carriage rides in the snow, a luxurious day spa that offers a variety of packages and treatments no matter your needs. Start your morning off with a full body massage to wake you up and refresh you for the day. Or, end a day out skiing with a wind down massage to give some pampering to all of those muscles you worked.

No matter what you need or what you’re into, the Chico Hot Springs Day Spa and Resort is sure to have something for you to relax, unplug, and just take a break from all the things going on in the world today.

And of course, if you need help with your travel arrangements, you can reach out to us at Miller Mountain Transport. We are more than happy to help you get to this relaxing destination and then back to your home again.
